Racing is dangerous. It’s dangerous for competit

Racing is dangerous. It’s dangerous for competitors and spectators. But without spectators, we do not have a sport. Spectators give us more adrenaline when racing and without them, it would simply be rubbish!
As a competitor, I’m very grateful to all spectators that support our sport and cheer us on.
We’ve put this video together to demonstrate some of the dangers and compromises that need to be made when spectators are a touch too close to the track. This is solely to educate and make people aware of the dangers from having a rider hit them. Please be aware that we use as much space as possible whilst staying between the tapes. And even with tape or barriers, it’s still possible to make a mistake and land on spectators in a crash. I crashed in the Lleida urban DH 6 years ago and went through a metal barrier landing on the crowd which was deeply upsetting for me. Since then, I have become more aware of the dangers and thought it was a good idea to show how things can go wrong very quickly in sport.
Please note, I have absolutely no objection to this young lad or his parents. I’m grateful for him cheering but want to show how it may be better at the next race to stand a little further back. If you know this lad, send me a DM me and I’ll send him a shirt for his enthusiasm and passion 🙏

The @orbea @boomadventures1 MTB Holiday winner had a very special week. And so did we! We couldn’t have hoped for a nicer guy to win this prize and it was fantastic getting to know Justin over the past 5 days. His choice of bike was the #OrbeaWild and we covered over 100km of Alicante’s finest enduro trails. We also did some hiking, swimming and of course… cerveza drinking! We finished the week off with dinner at the award winning @strat_restaurant where Justin was presented with some Orbea merch. Special thanks to everyone behind the scenes that made this week possible for Justin. And thanks Justin for giving Suzy and I a blast of a week 😎

First laps today tweaking my set up and preferences. The Bosch Gen5 motor is mind blowing smooth and the geometry allows me to push more & more. Needless to say, I’ve not found it’s limits yet! I’ll be racing the Valencian Enduro Championship next weekend on this bike and will be smiling all the way round 😎

A real life nightmare. Last week after a day of training, I decided to join Suzy and Julian for an evening E-bike route. I didn’t bother changing from my road kit and arrogantly thought I would be fine... Whilst riding down Pas del Goleró, I made a fundamental mistake which nearly cost me more than any other crash. Incredibly lucky to land on a ledge and also my bike! After some scans and X-rays, we found only bruising and tendon damage. This is one big wake up call for me 🤐.
I should know better and I should know the respect mountains deserve. Don’t make the same mistakes as I did kids! #OrbeaWild Special thanks to @julianpolo.irs and @mrsbenmooreracing for getting me out and to hospital so fast 🙏

The most intense race start I’ve ever had to dea

The most intense race start I’ve ever had to deal with… After a DNF in qualifying, I was forced to race round 4 of the @maxiavalanche championship from the back of the grid. I was leading the series and knew I couldn’t afford to give away anything in the finals. I gave everything (and risked a big move in turn 1!) to fight my way through the pack and sit in 3rd position by turn two. I proved that training harder than my competitors was the difference between being a champion and being a competitor. I went on to win the championship and ‘tick off’ a life long dream.
Tomorrow, I will announce our next goal and I bet nobody will guess what it is…! 🤫 #OrbeaWild
